5S and the Visual Office

Aggressive organization and visual transformation of office layouts and processes is a fundamental aspect of a lean work area.  We can help design new office layouts for better flow of information and communication between people and departments to reduce floor space use and travel distance. 5S helps get control of office supplies, organizes files, creates colored coded processes, reduce clutter, and create a more organized sustainable environment

Kanban Office Supplies

Like any type of inventory, supplies can be over-purchased, un-controlled, and non-visual.  A robust and repeatable Kanban ordering system can have profound impact on cost.  Kaizen Assembly can help establish the proper inventory supply levels, help create the visual ordering system, and implement it in the office.

Lean Work Cells

Work cells are essential work teams that are strategically arranged and placed to ensure better flow of information and communication, but more importantly reduces the overall lead time of processing vital information and work documents.  A further analysis with Value Stream Mapping is needed but then this information is used implement lean work areas in the office.

The Approach

Lean Training

Kaizen Assembly can conduct onsite training for your staff to teach them the fundamental implementation techniques of lean service/office.  Our training is very in depth with lots of examples.  Group exercises and simulations are used to help further illustrate the concepts.  Training sessions range from ½ day to 2 day workshops.

Value Stream Mapping and Analysis

Some initial analysis of the administrative process is needed but not to the point of being bogged down by data.  Flow of information, movement of people and paperwork, and cycle times can be captured to assist in developing lean work cells.  Kaizen Assembly can help conduct this study and use it to design the new leaner office.

CAD Layout Support

Our engineering department can provide onsite CAD layout support to help in implementing better office work areas, work cells, and general layouts.
